SLP is Stephen Laurence Photography.

My photography story began with the desire to travel to Mt Everest. I carried my film SLR and soon realised I had a love affair with taking photos. I didn't want to stop travelling purely so that I could keep photographing as much of the world as possible... this took me away from home for four years. On returning to Australia I studied a Diploma of Photography at the Photography Institute and a Certificate IV of Photography at Melbourne Polytechnic.

Photography gives me the chance to explore different locations and be creative and spontaneous. I get to collaborate with other minds and strive to create a vision.

Aside from landscapes, I experience a lot of joy in capturing people's special moments – from weddings to birthdays; it’s truly an honour.

The opportunity to work in the context of commercial businesses is again a different experience that I revel in.

The creative outlet and the pursuit of perfection are such an adrenaline rush. It is a collaboration of minds and creativity.

I have exhibited at several photography events, had my work published in magazines and regularly contributed to commercial/stock image houses.

In astrology I am an Earth sign; always drawn to the outdoors, hence my addiction to landscape photography. I am usually found in the garden, growing my own vegetables and chatting with the chickens, otherwise, I’m exploring places to photograph. I’m lucky enough to live on the Mornington Peninsula which has a spectacular coastline of calm bays to rugged cliffs. When I’m not soaking up the views from my backyard, I have the privilege of freedom to explore the greatest backdrop and scenery within the rest of my home: Australia.

I am a member and a strong supporter of the LGBTI community.
